The ACE Group of Companies announced today its participation in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Climate Leaders program as part of its commitment to climate change awareness and focus on improving the environment of the communities around the world in which it does business. Through its participation in Climate Leaders, ACE has pledged to measure and reduce its corporate greenhouse gas emissions as one of a number of initiatives to reduce, reuse and recycle resources on a companywide basis.
Launched in 2002, Climate Leaders is an EPA industry-government partnership that works with companies to develop long-term, comprehensive climate-change strategies. Partners set a greenhouse gas reduction goal and inventory their emissions to measure progress. By reporting data to EPA, partners create a lasting record of their accomplishments and identify themselves as corporate environmental leaders.
“No greater problem confronts mankind than global warming,” said Evan G. Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, ACE Limited. “There is little doubt that our individual activities, large and small, collectively contribute to this problem in a meaningful way, and we must all do our part to address the challenge. We view addressing this issue as a personal and corporate responsibility.”
“The ACE Group of Companies is demonstrating corporate climate change leadership by embracing energy efficiency and technological innovation as sound business investments,” said EPA Deputy Administrator Marcus Peacock. “Many of the nation’s leading companies are working aggressively with the EPA to lower their greenhouse gas emissions.”
The ACE Group of Companies is a global leader in insurance and reinsurance serving a diverse group of clients.
