ACE Bermuda is pleased to announce that it will host the second annual ACE insurance symposium at the BUEI on Monday November 10, 2003 from 12.30pm-4.30pm.
Looking into the Future is an educational event that enhances the continuous learning tradition within the Bermuda business community and provides a forum for open debate on current insurance and reinsurance issues. The symposium, moderated by ACE Limited’s Vice Chairman, Don Kramer, will address how industry and government leaders are forecasting changes, risks and implications in the Bermuda insurance market and applying successful strategies to sustain growth and profitability.
Mark Herman, President and Chief Executive Officer of ACE Bermuda, explained, "While the current favorable market environment supports growth, Bermuda cannot afford to become complacent. Our panel of speakers will examine how the Bermuda-based insurance and reinsurance industries thrive in this environment and discuss the implications for Bermuda’s capacity to accommodate future growth"
The symposium will feature a distinguished panel of global and local business leaders providing perspectives on issues such as:
-
Does the Bermuda location still work for the insurance and reinsurance sector?
-
Is the hard market over?
-
What do new companies need for a stable future?
-
How are successful companies maintaining profitability and growth in challenging times?
-
What core capabilities does Bermuda have and or need to support this market?
The panel includes:
Mr. Brian Duperreault , Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, ACE Limited
Mr. Joseph Rego , President & Chief Operating Officer, Aon (Bermuda) Limited
Dr. the Hon. Ewart Brown , JP, MP, Deputy Premier & Minister of Transport
Mr. Michael Morrison , President & Chief Executive Officer, Allied World Assurance Company, Ltd.
Mr. Christopher Treanor , Managing Director & President, Marsh Global Broking
Mr. Wayne Brown , Assistant Financial Secretary, Ministry of Finance
Last year's inaugural symposium, sponsored by ACE Tempest Re, focused on the insurance industry's survival after the events of September 11, 2001 and how the view of extreme risk and its management changed. A panel of experts from academic and insurance industry environments examined the sources of extreme risk and the role of the reinsurance sector in assuming such risk.
