Matthew Shaw was appointed Chief Underwriting Officer, ACE Global Markets and Chairman, ACE Tempest Re Europe in June 2008. Mr. Shaw joined ACE as Managing Director of ACE Tempest Re Europe in August 2002. He is based in London.
In the insurance industry for more than 25 years, Mr. Shaw started his career at Lloyds in 1982 working in Aviation and Non Marine lines, underwriting both direct and reinsurance business.
Mr. Shaw joined ACE from St. Paul, where he served as a director of the board of the Managing Agent and Active Underwriter for syndicate 340. He has served as a member the Lloyds Aviation Underwriters Association and ABI committees and was also a board director of Gravett and Tilling syndicate management and from 1987 a director of St. Paul at Lloyds.
