On December 30, 2004, ACE Limited CEO Evan Greenberg announced that ACE would collect donations from employees for the ACE Tsunami Relief Fund and match those contributions with funds from the ACE Foundations. Since that time, employees have contributed more than $75,000 to the relief effort.

When we set up the ACE Tsunami Fund, ACE committed to make a donation as well. In recognition of the tremendous impact of the disaster on the people in the region, ACE donated $1 million over and above the matching funds from the ACE Foundations.

After a careful review of the many organizations helping with the relief efforts, ACE decided that all funds donated through ACE—those donated by our employees, the matching gift from the ACE Foundations and the $1 million from the ACE Group of Companies—will be distributed evenly among the American Red Cross, the International Rescue Committee, UNICEF and CARE.
